Getting started with TagOut is simple. In just a few minutes, you’ll be ready to start contacting college coaches, tracking engagement, and managing your recruiting in one place.
This guide walks you step-by-step through creating your account and setting up your athlete profile.
Step 1: Create Your Account
To begin:
- Click Sign Up
- Choose one of the following:
- Sign up with your email and password
- Sign up with Google
We strongly recommend signing up with your Google account (Gmail).
Why?
Later, you’ll connect your Gmail to send and track recruiting emails inside TagOut — so using Google from the start makes everything seamless.
What TagOut Does (Quick Reminder)
Once your account is set up, TagOut allows you to:
- Access lists of college coaches and their verified contact information
- Email coaches directly from the platform
- Post across social platforms with one click
- Automatically tag coaches in your social posts
- Track who opens your emails
- See who clicks your highlight links
- Monitor ongoing email conversations
Everything is designed to help you stay organized and visible throughout the recruiting process.
Step 2: Complete the “Getting Started” Setup
After logging in, you’ll see the Getting Started checklist.
Click “Set Up Your Profile.”
This takes you to your Settings page, where you’ll enter key recruiting details.
Step 3: Fill Out Your Athlete Profile
On the Settings page, enter:
🎓 Graduating Class
Your high school graduation year.
🏅 Sport
Select the sport you’re being recruited for.
🆔 NCAA ID (If You Have One)
If you already have an NCAA ID, enter it here.
If you don’t have one:
- Click the provided link inside TagOut
- Create one for free
- Come back and enter it
Having an NCAA ID is important for recruiting eligibility.
📧 CC Email Address (Highly Recommended)
You’ll be emailing college coaches regularly — sending:
- Highlights
- Updates
- Grades
- Tournament schedules
We highly recommend adding a CC email address.
This could be:
- Your travel ball coach
- A high school coach
- A parent
- A recruiting advisor
Why CC someone?
They can:
- Follow up with coaches on your behalf
- Speak positively about you
- Advocate for you behind the scenes
Pro tip: Coaches sometimes respond more seriously when another adult is copied.
Step 4: Save Your Changes
Once your information is entered:
Click Save Changes.
You’ll see your “Set Up Your Profile” step marked complete.
That’s it — your profile is officially ready.
