How to Use TagOut.ai’s AI Researcher to Build a Winning College Coach Contact List

When it comes to college recruiting, your contact list is your playbook. The better your list is—and the more complete your coach contacts are—the more opportunities you’ll have to get seen, get noticed, and get recruited.

That’s exactly why we built the AI Researcher inside TagOut.ai.

Instead of spending hours searching for emails, Instagram handles, Twitter/X profiles, and staff directories, our AI Researcher does it all for you—in just a few minutes.

This guide walks you step-by-step through how to use it.

Step 1: Start From the Contacts or Schools Screen

You can launch the AI Researcher from two places:

  1. The Contacts screen
  2. The Schools screen

Simply click “Build My List With AI.”

This tells TagOut that you’re ready to build or expand your recruiting list with accurate, up-to-date coach contact info.

Step 2: Choose Your Sport and Select Schools

On the AI Researcher setup screen, you’ll choose:

  1. Your sport from the dropdown (Softball, Baseball, Basketball, etc.)
  2. The schools you want to target.

Just start typing the name of a school—TagOut will automatically show matching options.

Select as many schools as you want for your recruiting list. We recommend building a list of 20–30 schools across D1, D2, D3, NAIA, and JUCO.

When you're ready, click Submit.

Step 3: Let the AI Researcher Do the Heavy Lifting

After you click submit, you’ll land on a progress screen.

Here’s what’s happening behind the scenes:

  1. The AI Researcher searches staff directories
  2. Confirms coaching roles and titles
  3. Finds emails, Instagram handles, X/Twitter usernames, and more
  4. Collects links and source pages for verification

This process can take a few minutes—grab water, take swings, or open your homework—but don’t leave the page. TagOut is working!

Step 4: Review Your Coach Contact List

Once the AI Researcher finishes, you’ll see a detailed list of coaches with:

  1. Names
  2. Roles
  3. Email addresses
  4. Instagram handles
  5. X/Twitter handles
  6. Link buttons that say “View”

Those View links take you straight to the source where the AI found the information, so you can quickly fact-check accuracy.

We highly recommend spending time on this screen.

This is your recruiting foundation—make it rock solid.

What to look for as you review:

  1. Do email addresses look like real staff emails?
  2. Do social handles actually belong to that coach?
  3. Are there missing entries you can fill in manually?

If something looks off, just click and edit the field.

If something is blank, go ahead and add your best guess or verified info.

Step 5: Add the Coaches to Your Contacts

Once everything looks correct and complete, press:

“Add to Contacts”

This instantly adds all the coaches and their contact info to your TagOut database.

Now you’re ready to:

  1. Tag coaches on social media automatically
  2. Send email outreach directly through TagOut
  3. Track opens and clicks
  4. See which coaches are engaging with your recruiting content
  5. Build smarter recruiting campaigns with data instead of guessing
